The students in the UBM program will form research teams with participating labs. In each team, we will include at least one student majoring in the mathematical sciences and one majoring in a biological science. The lab leader will also serve as the UBM team leader. According to their interest and expertise one or more faculty members from the mathematical sciences will join the group leader to serve as research mentors. The complementary expertise of the undergraduates and the mentors makes for an ideal partnership in which they will learn from each other outside the formal class setting and while engaged in cutting edge research.
